The sitcom was shot in the Bavaria Studios in Munich. Following the American example, the film was recorded live in front of an audience.

In Bully macht Buddy, Michael Bully Herbig plays himself. Everything revolves around the making of his feature film Buddy: The script is finished, but shortly before shooting begins, Bully is under enormous pressure: The budget is getting tight and he has no actors yet! Bully gives everything to make his film. He only realizes how much he neglects his private life when his girlfriend Nina (Sandra Koltai) leaves him and their shared apartment.
